Twitter has recognized a significant increase in video game conversations throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. As the world continues to self-isolate, it appears as though gaming has become a major topic of conversation.
According to data provided by Head of Gaming Content Partnerships, Rishi Chadha, Twitter saw a 71% increase in video game conversations in the second half of March. This statistic is more than likely partially due to the number of people worldwide at home indulging in games. In addition, the increase in chatter was bolstered by the release of high profile games such as DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
On March 20th, Twitter saw the largest increase in gaming conversations. This also coincided with the release of the two aforementioned game titles. The numbers dwindled slightly but held strong when compared to stats from February.
